Photography is about capturing the moment, but it’s also about having fun. As a photographer, one of the things that has helped me serve my clients better is the ability to make them feel comfortable. If a client feels relaxed and at ease during the photo-shoot, they’ll have more fun and you’ll get greater results!
To make sure you have a great time on your next photo shoot, here are 10 tips for guaranteed fun and inspiration:
- Be prepared to have fun! Research the photographer’s work ahead of time and make sure it aligns with what you’re looking for. Familiarise yourself with their portfolio and be sure they’re someone whose style resonates with you.
- Choose an outfit that makes you feel amazing! It doesn’t have to be formal or fancy, but it should make you feel like the best version of yourself. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and clothing that you can move in easily.
- Every single person has an inner light—you just have to find it! Your inner light is usually hidden under a layer of fears and self-doubt, but once you shed those layers, WHAMMO: The most incredible person emerges from within! And the best part about this? You don’t need anyone else’s approval or validation to help uncover their inner light—just yourself!
- Bring snacks—you don’t want to be hungry when you’re taking pictures!
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions if something comes up that confuses or frustrates you; we want this experience to be as smooth as possible!
- Don’t forget that while professional photography is all about artistry, it’s also about capturing real moments and emotions—so don’t be afraid to let down your guard when we ask “natural” questions like “How does this make you feel?”
- Don’t forget to smile! We want to see those pearly whites shining through every shot we take of you!
- Don’t be afraid to try new things! What’s the worst that can happen? You might love the photo, but you’ll never know if you don’t try!
- Keep an open mind—the photographer will do everything they can to make sure your session is fun and exciting, but if they ask for something specific like doing a cartwheel or climbing up onto things like trees then just trust them because they know what they’re doing!
- Bring some friends along for the ride! Even if they aren’t going in front of the camera themselves, having someone else there can help keep things light-hearted and stress-free—plus it’s always nice having another person around when you’re striking a pose.
